What we build

Six things we do, and do properly

We deliberately keep our scope tight. Everything below is work we deliver week in, week out with our own supervisors and long-standing trades.

All services in detail
The same living room after renovation: open plan, high ceilings, oak floors and full-height glazing to the garden
Dark, closed-in original living room before renovation, with low ceilings and a small window

Before and after

The same room, thirteen weeks apart

A closed-in 1930s rear living room in Halifax, opened to the garden. Drag the handle to see the difference.

  • Structural steel to open up the rear wall without a single visible post
  • Ceilings lifted to 2.9m and reinsulated to current standards
  • New engineered oak floor laid continuously through to the new slab
  • Delivered in 13 weeks with the family living upstairs throughout

Client feedback

What it is actually like to build with us

Averaging 5.0 out of 5 across 4 reviews. These are unedited, and we have not cherry-picked the short ones.

  • We had two other builders quote and both were vague about what happened if they found problems. Complex gave us a line-by-line quote and a written contingency. When they did find rot in the old sill plate, we got a change order with a price the same day. No drama, no arguments.

    Sarah & Tom Whitfield

    Homeowners · North End

  • The thing that stood out was the communication. Every Friday we got photos and a note on what was happening the following week. I never once had to chase anyone for an update, which after our last renovation felt like a luxury.

    Priya Raman

    Homeowner · Downtown Dartmouth

  • Eleven months on a sloping lot with bedrock two feet down, and they hit the handover date they gave us at contract signing. Our architect said it was the cleanest site he had worked with in years.

    Daniel Okafor

    Homeowner · Hammonds Plains

  • We could not close for the fit-out. They ran six weeks of night shifts, cleaned the space every single morning before our team arrived, and we did not lose a day of billable work.

The money questions, answered up front

Most builders make you ask twice. Here are the four we get asked most, answered honestly.

How we work

No mystery, no drift

Most bad building experiences come from poor process, not poor tradesmen. Here is ours, start to finish.

Site supervisor and clients reviewing construction drawings on site
  1. Site visit

    Week 1

We come to you, measure up, and talk honestly about what your budget will and will not buy. If your brief and your budget do not match, we say so at this meeting rather than three months later.

  2. Fixed-price quote

    Week 2–3

A line-by-line quote with every allowance stated in writing. You will know what the tiles are budgeted at, what the tapware is budgeted at, and exactly what happens if you change your mind.

  3. Approvals & contract

    Week 3–10

We work out whether you need a CDC or a full DA and lodge it for you. You sign a standard HIA or MBA contract with fixed stage payments — no unusual clauses, nothing weighted our way.

  4. On site

    The build

One supervisor, on your job, start to finish. Written progress photos every Friday, their mobile number in your phone, and a site that gets swept at the end of every day.

  5. Handover

    Final week

We walk the job with you and write the defects list together. Everything on it is fixed before you pay the final claim, not after. Warranties and manuals handed over in one folder.

Tell us what you want to build

A site visit, a proper measure and a fixed-price quote, at no cost and with no obligation. If your budget will not stretch to your brief, we will tell you at the first meeting.

Replies within one business day. We build across Halifax and the HRM, with weekend crews for urgent works.
